The challenge

To increase the output of the tandem mill, the drive power of the mill stand must be increased too. This requires a gear unit with higher performance with the same space requirements to make use of the existing foundations and, at the same time, excellent casing stiffness.

The solution

The Millmaster® gear unit from the cold rolling mill gearing series stands out through its compact design which is made possible by omitting a new gear stage of its own. This is made possible by the direct drive of the upper, double helical pinion shaft via a likewise double helical drive shaft. Thus the driving torque is distributed direct to two gearings.
